This is the lens cap for the one eye Stereoscope also called the free viewers assistant. This contains two parts one for the front aperture and one for the rear aperture. This saves the mirrors from dust.   It helps to extend the life of the optical components and provides a clean, clear image every time you use the Stereoscope.
