In twenty-one fascinating photos, underwater stereographer Mark Blum plunges us beneath the world's oceans to experience the marine environment in three dimensions. The stereo image pairs were captured with custom designed underwater camera systems allowing accurate stereo photography of subjects ranging in size from large schools of fish to tiny individual shrimp. In the case of the macro subjects, the magic of stereography allows us to perceive depth and detail far beyond the capability of our normal vision.

Vivid 3-D images are keyed to an informative text, which not only identifies the common and scientific names of the subjects, but provides natural history and locational notes from some of the world's most exotic dive locations. All of the marine life subjects were photographed as they were found in their natural habitats. A diverse variety of images have been selected to illustrate the beauty and diversity of the marine environment, as well as to introduce the reader to the benefits of three-dimensional photography for enhanced viewing of the underwater world.
